As designers and architects, knowing how to charge is one of the most challenging things we face. With no clear industry standards, knowing how much to charge clients is a constant source of confusion and stress.

In our next Free Member Coaching session, we're looking to answer tough questions about design fees, margins and the best methods to suit your individual business model.

Often, we’re undercharging for our time due to a variety of reasons that usually stem from a lack of confidence and/or knowledge. As designers, we work in the service industry, which means that time is our commodity. Understanding the value of that commodity is imperative to the success of our business.

Talking money with clients doesn’t need to be awkward or uncomfortable and should begin at the very first meeting. When we’re confident in the value we are adding to a client’s project and are secure in the knowledge that our fees and margins are in place for good reason, it becomes easy to have conversations that are clear, transparent and empowering for both parties.

We can't delve too deeply into individual questions, but we can guarantee that you'll come away from the session with a better understanding of how to run a successful design business!

- We will endeavour to answer all questions during the course of the session, but first priority will be given to those who submit their questions via the Questionnaire prior.

- Questions are limited to those that can be answered in short form, rather than those that would require a lengthy response. Such matters can be dealt with via our 1-on1 coaching sessions.
