Brahman Perera’s work is known for its richly layered interiors, expressive use of materiality, and a distinctive design language that draws from a broad creative background.

In this workshop, Brem will explore the creative process behind his practice, from the early formation of an idea through to the development of spaces that feel atmospheric, personal and deeply resolved.
Drawing on his own varied career path, he will reflect on how influences from fashion, art, architecture and object design have shaped the way he approaches interiors, and how those references can be translated into a cohesive and highly individual design response.
The session will consider the role of storytelling in design, not as a superficial theme, but as a way of giving a project clarity, emotion and identity.
In this workshop, Brem will explore:
-
The early stages of the creative process, from inspiration to concept development
-
How to build atmosphere through texture, shape, colour, fabric, lighting and materiality
-
The role of storytelling in creating spaces with emotional resonance
-
How to develop a distinctive design voice without becoming formulaic
-
How to bring clients along the creative journey and build trust in a bold vision

While the workshop will be centred on creativity, it will also touch on the practical realities of bringing a strong design vision to life.
How do you develop a clear creative voice? How do you bring clients into your vision and give them the confidence to trust the process? And how do you retain creative integrity while responding to the brief, the site, the budget and the commercial realities of a project?
This is a workshop for designers who want to think more deeply about their own creative process, strengthen their design voice, and approach projects with greater confidence, intention and originality.
